Maintenance Requirements

    Hair Extension
    Do’s and Don’ts

    ✓

Brush your extensions daily with a soft-bristle brush to prevent tangling

    ✕

Sleep with wet extensions; always dry them thoroughly before bed to avoid matting.

    ✓

Use sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners to maintain the health and shine of your extensions.

    ✕

Apply excessive heat without a heat protectant, as it can damage both your natural hair and the extensions.

    ✓

Keep heat to a minimal - always use heat protect

    ✕

Use heavy, oily products near the roots, as they can weaken the bonds or tapes.

    ✓

Schedule regular touch-ups with your stylist to ensure your extensions stay secure and blend seamlessly.

    ✕

Go over the advised maintenance period.

    LIFESPAN

Hair extensions can last up to 1 year with correct aftercare. Extensions that are exposed to less heat and over-styling tend to last longer.

I always advise avoiding excessive styling and using the correct, professional products. Most high-quality hair typically lasts between 6–12 months. Blonde extensions may have a shorter lifespan as they are more processed and delicate.

I will always give the best advice possible, as following a good hair routine will keep your extensions looking their best throughout.

    Aftercare is Key

    AVOID
    • Sulfate-based shampoos – can dry out hair and weaken bonds/tape
    • Alcohol-based products – like hairsprays, styling gels, or mousses that dry the hair
    • Oil or heavy conditioners near bonds/tape – can cause slippage
    • Perfume or body sprays – alcohol in perfumes can weaken extensions
    • Coloured or toning shampoos – may stain or alter the extension colour
    • Heat directly on bonds/tape – can melt adhesives or damage nano bonds
    • Sleeping with wet or loose hair – causes tangling and matting
    • Tight hairstyles – puts strain on natural hair and bonds
    • Chlorine and salt water – dries out extensions and damages adhesive.
